BEIJING,(Reporter Liu Aiying,Correspondent Shi Yuntian)—On September 28,China's first vehicle-mounted integrated air reverse circulation(RC)rig commenced drilling at the geochemical sampling project site in the shallow coverage area of East Junggar,Fuyun County,Xinjiang.Named the'MARMOT 200RC,'this rig was independently researched,developed,and manufactured by Sichuan Marmot Technology Co.,Ltd.,a subsidiary of Sichuan Yuanshan Exploration Group Co.,Ltd.It is the first vehicle-mounted integrated air reverse circulation rig in China to obtain 3C certification,breaking foreign technological monopolies and filling a domestic gap.As a powerful tool for achieving exploration breakthroughs in covered areas,it will make resource exploration more efficient and economical,marking a milestone in the development of China's geological exploration equipment.
'The innovation of the MARMOT 200RC lies in its unique integrated design combining the'rig+air compressor+off-road chassis'into one,'said Wang Renhu,Chairman of Sichuan Yuanshan Exploration Group Co.,Ltd.Compared to traditional rigs,this model achieves a high level of integration,significantly reducing auxiliary operation time and truly enabling'drill upon arrival and depart after drilling.'
It is understood that traditional drilling equipment often faces challenges such as difficult transportation and low efficiency in complex terrains like deserts and Gobi areas.The MARMOT 200RC,equipped with a six-drive high-mobility off-road chassis,can easily handle various complex terrains.Acting as a'scout for rapidly locating mineralization clues,'it travels light and relies on speed and technology to succeed.

Obtaining pollution-free,highly representative continuous physical samples is crucial for accurately assessing ore grade and reserves and stands as one of the'gold standards'in the drilling industry.At the project site,as the rig drills downward,the corresponding penetration depth on the drill string changes in real-time.A high-power air reverse circulation compressor accurately extracts the physical samples from the respective depth intervals,with samples from different strata strictly separated.Moreover,the entire process eliminates the need for drilling fluid,achieving the core objective of'acquiring physical samples continuously,rapidly,and without pollution.'
Furthermore,by eliminating the need for drilling fluid and optimizing the system design,the rig reduces overall drilling costs by at least 50%.Particularly in water-scarce regions such as Northwest China and environmentally sensitive areas,the water-independent air reverse circulation rig holds a natural advantage.While lowering drilling costs,its drilling efficiency is 3-5 times that of traditional rigs,significantly shortening project timelines.
'The MARMOT 200RC rig provides a brand-new solution for achieving breakthrough mineral exploration in Xinjiang,'said Zhang Zhimin,Secretary-General of the Xinjiang Mining Association.He noted that given Xinjiang's vast territory and complex geological conditions,traditional exploration methods still face numerous challenges in terms of efficiency,cost,and adaptability.The modernization of equipment technology has become a key support for enhancing exploration efficiency,reducing overall costs,and achieving green development,directly impacting the success of mineral exploration breakthroughs.
Currently,the rig has been deployed in mineral exploration projects conducted by the Xi'an Center of the China Geological Survey in the Altay region of Xinjiang.Additionally,collaboration projects for its deployment in Saudi Arabia are under negotiation.
